In it’s native habitat in the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, H. aulicum may be found growing as an epiphyte and geophyte, but is easily grown in containers. Truly exquisite, the blooms appear in the late summer/early fall. Evergreen.

Not the typical form from Bolivia, this evergreen Brazilian form of the species is from the Amazon and has 3-4 elegant flowers per scape, often with 3-4 scapes per bulb. An excellent container plant, for you will want to bring this one inside to admire its beauty.

One in the same, this species grows near the banks of streams in southeastern South America and therefore likes water. Flowers are deep red.

Hippeastrum striatum

An elegant orange species from Brazil of medium stature.  These are seedlings of large-flowered forms. Often confused with H. puniceum, this species have red pigments in the leaf bases.
